Yamaha XTZ690 Tenere 700 – Shock Upgrade Kit
Improve Control. Maximise Comfort. Unlock Off-Road Potential.
This shock upgrade kit has been developed specifically to address the shortcomings of the stock Yamaha Ténéré 700 rear suspension. Whether you’re navigating rough tracks, hitting erosion banks or soaking up corrugations, this kit delivers the control and performance you need—without the cost of a full aftermarket shock.
We’ve spent years fine-tuning this kit through real-world testing in some of the harshest off-road conditions, combined with rigorous dyno development. The result? Dramatically improved suspension response, consistency, and rider confidence across all terrain types.
Why upgrade with this kit?
Replace the OEM piston and valving for a fraction of the cost of a new shock
Smooths out harsh impacts and maintains composure at speed
Customisable performance by selecting the correct spring rate for your weight
Trusted by serious riders, proven in Australian conditions
Included in the Kit:
CNC-machined damping piston with a low-friction, graphite-filled endless band
Custom shim stacks developed specifically for the T7
Pre-drilled rebound separator
Shock spring not included—see below for recommendations
Recommended Spring Rates (based on rider weight incl. gear):
Stock T7: 6.95 kg/mm
80 kg rider: 7.5 kg/mm
90 kg rider: 8.0 kg/mm
100 kg rider: 8.5 kg/mm
We recommend pairing the kit with a 20-039 HiCalibre shock spring tailored to your weight for maximum benefit.
Installation Note:
This is not a beginner-level DIY kit. While no modification of included parts is necessary, experience in shock servicing is required. If in doubt, please have the installation performed by a qualified suspension technician.
